She Would Never

by epi

She would never think to mourn a year;
to call her trials and joys wasted or futile.

But in some moments, she lets her heart break
for mistakes made in moments we can’t redo.

And then,
she closes her eyes
to move forward.

She’s found it’s easier
if you’re blind:
you learn to trust your instincts,
to listen to the world around you,
to think only about your very next step.

Soon,
you’ve forgotten to fear
what you never could’ve controlled anyway.
